Meet Diana

I was born and raised in Sterling to Marta and Larry Vasquez. I watched my parents as small business owners in their hair salons. I graduated from Newman Central Catholic High School, Sauk Valley Community College, and Ashford University (Bachelor's and Master's).

After college, I moved back to Sterling to raise my family as a single mother. The close-knit community and cost of living were a draw for me to return home. I purchased my childhood home in 2015 and married my husband Jacob in 2017.

I work at the Regional Office of Education #47 as Family Education and Support Services Coordinator. In addition, I supervise the Nexus and IRIS Community Referral System.

As your next city mayor, I will work to:

Ensure the city is pursuing grants and funding opportunities

Be future-focused and accountable to the city's goals

Create a city where families want to live and grow

On The Issues

Support

Businesses

We want to have a city that supports the growth of small and local businesses. We want our residents to have access in Sterling, not an hour away. I will work to help bring businesses to our area.

Riverfront Development

The city has been talking about the riverfront development for over a decade. I will ensure we meet our goals and are transparent with the citizens.

Safe Affordable Housing

We want families to seek our town as a place to move to and raise their families. Safe and affordable housing is a must for our sustainability.
